Kahlia has a broad commercial law practice with particular expertise in building and construction law (including security of payment matters). She accepts briefs in most areas of commercial litigation including general commercial, contractual disputes, insurance law, consumer law, corporations’ law and ADR, as well as professional negligence law.
Kahlia is currently completing her Master of Laws at Melbourne University (anticipated completion 2024), with a focus on building and construction law.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Kahlia was Senior Legal Counsel at Quanta Services Australia (QSA), an energy infrastructure construction company. At QSA, Kahlia worked on a variety of matters, ranging from smaller disputes involving subcontractors and designers through to significant claims on large infrastructure projects. Her practice included advising the group on complex construction and engineering disputes, including in relation to delay, disruption and defects, as well as the administration of major projects and the negotiation of high value EPC contracts.
Prior to working at QSA, Kahlia was a criminal lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid, appearing in the Childrens’ Court, the Magistrates’ Court and the County Court.
