Profile

Rachel is a seasoned criminal advocate with broad experience gained from working on both sides of the bar table. Rachel accepts briefs in all areas of criminal law and quasi-criminal law, including regulatory matters, inquests, and council matters. 

 

Rachel has both prosecuted and defended in a broad range of criminal matters in the Supreme Court, County Court and Magistrate's Court jurisdictions across Victoria. Rachel also has extensive experience in the Drug Court, ARC List, Koori Court and the criminal division of the Children's Court, with a keen focus on therapeutic jurisprudence. She has a strong reputation for being a fervent and assiduous defence advocate; as well as being a fair and formidable prosecutor. 

 

Prior to coming to the Bar, Rachel worked as a solicitor advocate at Dribbin and Brown Criminal Lawyers. There, she worked on a range of criminal matters as well as other areas including disciplinary proceedings and council matters such as matters under the Domestic Animals Act, the Food Act, and the Estate Agents Act. 

 

Rachel also worked at the Office of Public Prosecutions. There, she worked in the trial division, preparing and appearing in matters across Victoria. 

 

Rachel holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. She was awarded the Daniel McCluskey Social Justice Prize for her work volunteering in Victorian prisons.

 

Rachel completed her Accredited Specialisation in Criminal Law from the Law Institute of Victoria in 2022. Rachel has also served on the Victorian Committee of Pride in Law, Australia’s National LGBTQIA+ Law Association.
