Simon has along and extensive general commercial law practice dealing with contract, corporations, property, equity and insolvency matters. He has regularly appeared as counsel in Federal and State Courts at trial and appellate level in Victoria and interstate.
In addition to his general practice, Simon has particular interest in IT and Intellectual Property areas, especially where they intersect. He advises and appears in all jurisdictions in copyright, patent, trade mark and confidential information casesand in relation to a wide variety of IT and on-line matters. In this regard he has advised extensively and consulted widely to government, listed and multimnational companies as well as to small and medium sized enterprises on database, web-based and software related questions and has advised on security, privacy, contracting, supply, implementation.
In addition to his LlB and Honours Arts degrees, Simon holds a Masters degree Law in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law from Monash University. He is also a member of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre as an arbitrator of domestic and international domain name disputes - and has acted in or determined many of these over the years. He is also, from time to time, a sessional lecturer at Monash University Law Faculty in the graduate program in IP and On-line/digital related subjects and has been widely published in journals and in the press in this area.
Simon also acts as a mediator and represents parties in mediations, again with particular interest in IT and IP related cases.
