Tim practices in public and administrative law, criminal law and general civil law matters. He accepts briefs to advise and appear in merits and judicial review proceedings and in general and appellate criminal and civil matters in Victoria and interstate.

Tim practices in public and administrative law, criminal law and general civil law matters. He accepts briefs to advise and appear in merits and judicial review proceedings and in general and appellate criminal and civil matters in Victoria and interstate.
Tim practiced as a solicitor in Victoria Legal Aid’s civil justice program, where he gained experience across a wide range of civil, public and criminal law matters.
Immediately prior to coming to the Bar, Tim practiced as a Public Defender in Victoria Legal Aid Chambers where he appeared unled in a range of matters, including:
- applications under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 in the Supreme Court of Victoria;
- merits review proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal;
- merits review and occupational regulation proceedings in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal;
- criminal proceedings and appeals in the Magistrates Court of Victoria and County Court of Victoria.
Tim also appeared led in judicial review proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia and coronial inquests in the Coroners Court of Victoria.
Previously, Tim was an associate to the General Division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (working with a range of members, but primarily Senior Member Egon Fice and Member Anne Shanahan).
While at the Tribunal Tim acquired experience across a wide variety of administrative law matters including:
- NDIS and social security litigation;
- migration proceedings under sections 501/501CA of the Migration Act 1958;
- workers’ compensation and Veterans’ appeals matters;
- tax and commercial litigation;
- proceedings in specialist jurisdictions, such as matters under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 and Customs Tariff Act 1995.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Bond University and is a current Master of Laws candidate at the University of Melbourne. Tim is a teaching associate at the Monash Law School, where he teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate law programs.
Tim is reading with Sarala Fitzgerald, and his senior mentor is Kathleen Foley SC.
